Introduction
Most students select an environmental concentration out of a general concern for the environment and an interest in improving its quality, but few students begin planning the concentration with a focus on a particular area of study. The first step, therefore, is to gather enough information to build a sense of priorities and decide which areas of learning are more attractive than others. At this stage, students should attend as many environmental seminars and discussion sessions as possible. They should also consult the collection of approved concentration plans in the Center's office at 135 Angell Street (the UEL). Meetings of concentrators are held each semester to discuss course selection and concentration design. The concentration support person at the Center and other ES concentrators are pleased to discuss their own programs and to give advice. Members of the Environmental Science (ESci) Committee are available to discuss the requirements of the ScB degree. Environmental Studies 11 is in part designed to assist potential concentrators in their search for a focused concentration.
