Introduction
Most students select an environmental concentration out of a general concern for the environment and an interest in improving its quality and may not begin planning the concentration with a focus on a particular area of study. The first step, therefore, is to gather enough information to build a sense of priorities and decide which areas of learning are more attractive than others. At this stage, students should attend as many environmental seminars and discussion sessions as possible. They should also consult the collection of approved concentration plans in the Center's office at 135 Angell Street (the UEL). Meetings of concentrators are held each semester to discuss course selection and concentration design.
Students contemplating Environmental Studies (AB) should contact lead advisor Kurt Teicher. Those interested in Environmental Science (ScB) should contact Professor Stephen Porder. Its also recommended to meet with our concentration peer support people - Katie Parker (AB) and Katherine Siegel (ScB & ENVS DUG). Katie and Katherine will be holding hours this spring (2013) in the UEL kitchen on Mondays from 1-3 pm and Wednesdays from 10 am-12:30pm.
In addition ENVS 0110 - Humans Nature and the Environment, is in part designed to assist potential concentrators in their search for a focused concentration.
