The state of Gujarat is a semi-arid environment with a large coastline bordered by the Rajasthan desert. The scenes used for this study are pictured below in Eastern Gujarat, where most of the fertile agricultural land resides.

The black boxes show the areas covered by the Landsat MSS data. The lines represent the districts within Gujarat and the surrounding states.
