Cultural Resources:
The RIGIS coverages for cultural resources are
all based on conducted at the State level. I do not feel these
studies are effective in representing the cultural resources
in Charlestown at a level that can be used to create openspace
policies. These studies are supplemented by the Charlestown
Openspace Prioritization Project.
A discussion of cultural maps in at the state
level, is available in the Mapping
the Sense of Place website.
This coverage is of scenic landscapes or views
as identified by RIDEM,
and is part of RIGIS. This coverage is used in the openspace
scoring portion of the study.
