Charlestown Zoning

The zoning coverage was created specifically for this project. It was digitized by visually interpreting the official hard copy zoning map, using the parcel lines as a guide. It involved coding each parcel with the zone that it is in, and when necessary, splitting parcels that are in more then one zone. This was completed in Arc View and then a coverage was created out of the shapefile.

The accuracy of this coverage is suitable for the buildout analysis, and was not used in any other analysis in this study. There are most likely inaccuracies in areas which the parcels had to be split, this was partially because of the methods used, and partially because the original map was ambiguous at times.

Accuracy was checked by the former Town Planner, Nancy Hess, and corrections were made.
