Policy Recommendations

Below is a list of policy recommendations for the Charlestown Planning Commission. Efforts should be made by the Town Planner to address these recommendations with the Commission.

Short-Term

  • Determine how survey results resonate with planning commission, particularly objectives for preserving openspace.

  • Use online and GIS hyper maps to inform policy decisions that affect the areas included in the survey.

  • Use the predictive GIS openspace model to understand how using resident objectives for acquiring openspace will result in the most efficient preservation of natural and cultural resources.

Long-Term

  • Pursue the Internet as a means of garnering public input and fostering community around future planning projects of this nature.

On-Going

  • Further investigate each inventoried survey site to expand qualitative data on the cultural resources present at each site.

  • Investigate suggested sites to expand the inventory and prioritization process.
