Economic Representativeness

A comparison of data from the 1990 Census and survey respondents reveals that the median assessed value of respondents' housing units is lower than that of the larger Charlestown population. However, this is not surprising, considering that the Census figure accounts for all housing units, including more expensive seasonal homes of part-time residents. The difference between survey median property value and that of the entire Charlestown community may be attributed to the fact that the majority of respondents were year-round residents.
