Site-Specific Findings

35 respondents (10 Phase II)

Respondents report that the most appropriate use for this site, if acquired as openspace, would be to use it as a wildlife preserve with hiking paths. This site ranked second to last in the analysis of how frequently driving past sites affects valuation. Although this site ranked fourth to last in the analysis of time spent at survey sites, it is moderately valued as potential openspace. This, coupled with responses for the final questions on appropriate uses, suggests that residents would most probably support preserving this site as a minimal access openspace that requires and allows for minimal alterations of the current environment.

6. What changes, if any, would you make to improve this landscape?

  • None. I love the stone walls, they are so New England.
  • This is a beautiful site and I would hate to see it go. I would especially preserve the stone fences.
  • Sound from Gun Club on Rte-216 can be irritating at times. Lead from spent bullets sometimes falls on this property.
  • Provide access to farm and animals on working farm/school type
  • This is newly improved land I believe. Continued present use should be encourage and protected by possibly purchasing development rights.
  • It seems too small for most use, particularly for important wildlife habitat
