Site-Specific Findings

41 respondents (17 Phase II)

Respondents report that the most appropriate uses for this site, if acquired as openspace, would be to use it as a wildlife preserve with hiking paths or for a setting/picnic area. The longitudinal analysis of residence time found that valuation of this site varied greatly amongst respondents of different residence times. While it is the third most valued site by respondents who have lived in Charlestown 3-10 years, respondents who have lived in Charlestown 0-3 years place a negative value on this site as a potential openspace. This may be attributed to the fact that Nordic Lodge is secluded, and newer residents may not have experienced the site.

6. What changes, if any, would you make to improve this landscape?

  • Land around Pasquiset is critical for acquisition because of wildlife habitats. I'm answering this as if it were about undeveloped land around the pond, rather than preserving this business.
  • Would like to canoe on pond
  • Nothing , it is lovely
  • Keep its natural quality
  • The road leading to it needs to be kept up better. I work in CT and know of many people who make a point of visiting here at least once in a season.
  • No changes, leave as is
  • No changes. Leave it as natural as it is now - and should always be.
