Site-Specific Findings

45 respondents (15 Phase II)

Although this site ranked second to last in the analysis of time spent at survey sites, it is highly valued as potential openspace. This suggests that residents would most likely support preservation of this site as a more private openspace that does not necessarily require high accessibility. As evidenced by findings for the final site questions, respondents prefer usage of this site that would require minimal alterations to the current environment and allow for minimal accessibility. Respondents report that the most appropriate use for this site, if acquired as openspace, would be to use it as a wildlife preserve with hiking paths.

6. What changes, if any, would you make to improve this landscape?

  • Plant wildflowers by the border of this property.
  • Plant some flowers
  • Nothing!! Great for open space!!
  • Make access to Ninigret Pond if possible.
  • All farms should be preserved and saved from being developed into tract housing, of the "executive" variety or otherwise.
  • This site is beautiful and should remain unchanged in that I don't think anything should be built there. However, it would be nice if the public had access to it still. Like I said on other sites, I would like to see bike trails connecting the town together. But I would like to keep the integrity of the open fields. They somehow make you feel like you can breathe better.
