Format: Demographic Questions

Basic demographic information was collected in order to place survey-takers in context. Confidentiality was assured at the beginning of the page.

All information will be held strictly confidential by the survey administrator.
Name

To personalize the survey, assist in record-keeping, and provide an opportunity for the respondent to be further involved.

In which town do you live or work?

Each town has its own particular issues and interests and we wanted to be able to draw some conclusions about town-based preferences and opportunities.

What is your age?

For educational and political purposes, age data will be useful in figuring out which groups know and care about what.

Are you a member of any University or state/federal agencies?

Different experiences in the environmental/regulatory/legislative world may determine some differences in priorities. We must be able to separate out respondents to see how the agency side compares and contrasts with community residents and others.

Are you a member of any of the following community organizations?
Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council
Audubon Society of RI
GrowSmartRI
Dam owner's association
Conservation Commission
Historic preservation commission
Land Trust
Municipal office
Chamber of Commerce
Northern/Southern RI Conservation District
Other:

Certain special interests may be represented by the respondents and we can use this information not only to seek out bias in the results, but also to learn about what each group finds important.

How involved are you in environmental or watershed issues?
Very involved Somewhat involved Not involved at all Would like to be more involved

As a basic indicator of experience, separate from employment and membership in community organizations, this question helps us to determine the respondents' perspective and take their answers accordingly.
