Survey Results
A tool for future study

Although the response to the survey was less-than-hoped-for, we can still pull many lessons from the experience and from the preliminary results. Findings presented in this section represent a small and non-representative sample of the watershed community but can still be used to draw some preliminary conclusions and to evaluate the tool.

Because of the modest number of results, the differences presented here are not statistically significant.

One of the most important lessons to take home is the importance of effective marketing and outreach.

As you can see, most of the responses we got on the survey was from word-of-mouth, and from the postcard mailing we sent out.

For more details on the distribution of the survey, see Advertisement and Publicity.

The survey can remain open for as long as is needed or desired, but if such an endeavor is undertaken in the future, it would be advisable to invest a more serious commitment of resources, personnel, and time to developing a survey that can yield meaningful results in the time allotted. Marketting is, of course, the biggest challenge but it can be overcome by a sustained and supported effort.
