This image shows how EDC's plans for development increases the development of unbuildable areas (as determined by RI law) by 109 acres. This increase is represented in bright pink in the above image. The most significant areas of concern are in the eastern portion of the site. The area adjacent to the airport and opposite the bay is a wetland surrounding Hall Creek and Fry's Pond that has been neglected in EDC's proposed plan, although it is part of the Hall Creek Conservation Area that was determined to be protected by the Settlement Agreement with North Kingstown and CLF. (See Proposed Open Space page for details) Also part of this agreement is the coastal area in between the airport and the two large piers in the north. This pink area is a wetland with a small pond that supports the wildlife (including a fox's den) to the west where EDC has planned for an area of open space where more wetlands occur. In order to ensure the quality of this open space, as well as follow the guidelines of the Settlement Agreement and RI law, this pink area should be included in EDC's open space plan. Further results are provided below. The most interesting of which shows how EDC plans for 65 more acres of wetlands to be developed.
