| All
of EDC's proposed open space areas shown above are required as per agreement
with North Kingstown and other concerned parties, including the Conservation
Law Foundation, Save The Bay, Audubon Society and others. This Settlement
Agreement was reached in 1979 and protects 584 acres of the most environmentally
sensitive areas on the property. Areas that were left out of EDC's proposed
plan that are of the most concern are the wetlands, streams and lakes that
can be seen in the above image occuring in the brown areas. These are unbuildable
areas as determined by RI law so it is in EDC's best interest to provide
plans for protecting these areas. The most important changes EDC needs to
make in their next plan for development is planning for the protection of
all these wetlands, streams and lakes that were neglected in their previous
plan. |
