The goal of the The Rhode Island Watershed Partnership (exit this site) is to "Preserve, Protect, and Restore Rhode Island's environment by the involvement of those who live, work and play in the watershed." It brings together what have traditionally been separate government programs to combine resources, expertise and different perspectives to effectively identify, prioritize and solve complex environmental issues. The Watershed Partnership defines 25 watersheds in the State of RI:
