Watersheds in RI

There are several different versions of watershed designations within the state of Rhode Island.  The major differences lie in the larger areas designated by the USGS 8-Digit Hydrologic Units, which separate RI into five basins, while the others designate 10 - 13 or more smaller watersheds.

A trading program to achieve water quality standards in the Providence and Seekonk Rivers could encompass discharges from the Blackstone, Woonasquatucket, Moshassuck and Pawtuxet River Basins, as well as from those in the northwest section of the Narragansett Bay basin, above the mouth of the Providence River.
