Conclusions

Do housing renovation projects change crime in the neighborhood? Does they reduce crime in those houses that were renovated?

From analyzing the data through GIS maps and graphs, I have concluded:

1. From project to project, crime might increase or decrease
2. Within each project, some houses have an increase of crime, others a decrease.

At least in these cases, it appears that it is an oversimplification to simply characterize renovation as "successful" or "unsuccessful." The data instead points to the necessity to study crime and renovation at each house. [Click here for more information about the individual houses]

Why is there such a disparity between case studies, neighborhoods, and even among renovated houses in the same case study? [Click here for possible explanations]
