  1. The City of Providence make a committment to accurate, complete GIS mapping. As I discussed, a complete lookup table will make analysis like my project much quicker and efficient. Accurately matching platlot numbers to addresse throughout the city ensures that a GIS can fulfill its potential for parcel-level mapping.
  2. The City of Providence Police Department coordinate GIS across departments, to identify those parcels with a confluence of reports. Data from different municipal departments are recorded differently; to coordinate a data clearinghouse will make the job of data comparison much easier and more accurate.
  3. Research the crime history of individual houses and determine when and why crime has increased or decreased at a particular property. I did this for a few houses but the next step is statistical analysis that will help make deductions about why crime increases at a particular house.
  4. Speak with neighbors and community members to find out what is going on at those houses with increased crime. These neighbors are personally invested in the community and they will be able to provide a further narrative of the "why."
