FARGNOLI PARK

PARK PERCEPTIONS - Understanding the Interview Results

All of the interviewees at Fargnoli Park were white. Judging from
their responses, they seemed to take advantage of the full array of the
park's facilities, and related to this, the park was said to become quite
overcrowded. The new waterpark was mentioned several times, attesting
to its popularity in the neighborhood. None of the respondents spoke of
crime and safety concerns before the questions on these topics were asked.
The disliked features of the park, in addition to the overcrowding already mentioned,
included trash and graffiti on the playground equipment.

All of the park users interviewed stated that they felt safe in the park, and would visit the park by themselves. Only 3 of the 9 respondents felt that they would not want to use the park during the night. Lastly, 100% of the interviewees felt that the park is better than it used to be. These responses substantiate the level of enthusiasm for the park that people expressed in their interviews. Many of them, although dissatisfied with the shortage of parks and recreational facilities in the neighborhood, are very happy with what the park offers, and what a positive community resource it is.
