Design Standards:"The LEED Program provides a good list of issues, which should be considered during the programming, planning, and design phases of any new building or large renovation. Optimally, each Project Team or Architect should evaluate the project based on this "scorecard" and submit it for University review prior to submitting for LEED certification through the USGBC."

•  Energy Guidelines: "The current goal on new projects is to allow adequate engineering interface early in design with the lead Design Architect to make informed decisions about schemes that may produce optimal cost effectiveness of material and systems selection. It is important to get thinking about energy usage, building siting arrangements and envelope possibilities so that completed designs may significantly exceed current energy code standards for system performance and efficiency. "

•  Inclusion of additional fees for electricity and stormwater infrastructure increased included in each new building budget. This is an attempt to consider some life cycle costs during design phase.
