Stanford has recently published a well-thought out set of Sustainable Guidelines that complement its Project Process Plan.
- The Guidelines for Sustainable Buildings The Guidelines demonstrate Stanford's commitment to plan and develop high value, quality, long-term, cost-effective facilities and landscapes that enhance the academic mission of the University, embrace its partnership with the community, and reinforce campus stewardship. The Guidelines serve as both communication and working tools that aid in planning, design, and construction of new buildings and renovations with an appropriate level of attention to economic, ecological, and social concerns. The Technical Building Guidelines are organized under six categories; Site Design and Planning, Energy Use, Water Management, Materials, Resources and Waste, and Indoor Environmental Quality. There are specific opportunities for sustainable design listed for each of seven campus building types.
