Yale University 's Mission Statement reflects the faculty, staff and students commitment to protect and enhance the environment through our teaching, research, service, and administrative operations.

  • Environmental Principles
  • Yale Green Fund The $1 million dollar (and growing) Yale Green Fund was created to support campus environmental initiatives.
  • Yale Green Plan: Sponsored by t he Yale Student Environmental Coalition (YSEC), a document of carefully considered recommendations that, if adopted, would make Yale a visible environmental leader. Under the Buildings and Planning section, the Plan covers life-cycle assessments of new buildings and renovations and employing consultants familiar with environmental design and construction.
  • Energy Guidelines: Yale's Energy guidelines establish energy efficiency as a goal and provide information including standards for space heating and cooling. Half of the university's electricity is produced at the on-sire co-generation plant. Each building on campus is individually metered and billed for energy usage. The building users and occupants have access to the building utilities metering system's data and comparative reports via a website.
