>> A Look at TMAs
If
current trends continue, Providence's transportation demand will continue
to grow and the problems will worsen. With the state and the city lacking
the resources to implement solutions, the outlook seems grim. Providence's
transportation dilemma is not unique however. Other areas across the nation
are also faced with similar transportation challenges. So how has the
private sector in these areas dealt with the challenges? In many of these
cases, the private sector has formed partnership organizations called
transportation management associations (TMAs). As the following pages
will reveal, these TMAs play an important role in addressing the transportation
problems of an area.
