WHAT IS HAZARDOUS WASTE?

Hazardous waste is defined by the US EPA "as any listed hazardous waste, or any waste that exhibits certain hazardous characteristics - ignitability, corrosivity, reactivity, and toxicity." A chemical waste exhibiting any of these four criteria is hazardous and must be managed according to the regulations outlined by federal and state agencies.
