Land Trust Bonding: The Block Island Land Trust uses funds borrowed from bonds in addition to a 3 percent land transfer tax to pay for aquired lands. The week of April 21 the Town Council decided to ask voter approval of $6 million bonding authority.

EPA Grant: New Shoreham has recently received a large EPA grant towards water managment of the Great Salt Pond. The Town Planning Commission is currently working to decide how to allocate those funds.

Underground Storage Tank Management: Town Council is currently amending legislation regarding the hiring of an underground storage tank enforcement officer. Because of New Shoreham's delicate single source aquifer the potential for underground petroleum leaks is enough to hire a full time inspector.
