Great Salt Pond: The Salt Pond is one of the most critical of the Island's resources. On January 7, 1991 the town approved the "Great Salt Pond Harbor Management Plan." The Plan lays out an Ordinance allocating uses for

different areas of the Pond and establishes user fees. Additionally the plan outlines actions ranging from shellfish enhancement programs to public education about the Great Salt Pond in order to bolster protection of this resource.
