Introduction
The Master of Arts program in Environmental Studies requires successful completion of a Master's thesis, the presentation of thesis results at a departmental seminar and an oral defense of the thesis when it is complete. This document offers guidance for selecting a thesis topic, and describes departmental expectations and requirements for completing the thesis. Additional requirements for the Master of Arts degree are described in the document titled, "A Guide for Graduate Students in Environmental Studies at Brown" and are only discussed here to the extent they relate to the thesis requirement.
